  • Note: Sister of Diana Wynne Jones Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, Jones worked in children's theatre as an actor from 1963, and wrote numerous children's plays that were performed in London but not published. In 1988 she was commissioned by the BBC to write a children's TV series and in 2001 her first children's picture book was published (The Witch's Children illustrated by Russell Ayto). Two sequels won British picture book awards. Since completing her sister's unfinished novel The Islands of Chaldea she has written some longer fiction, too. (Nonfiction catalogued by the Library of Congress seems probably the work of another Ursula Jones.)
