Note: The New York Times says that she grew up in "the village of Huaihua Di in Hunan Province". Google maps knows of no such village, although it does show the (large) city of Huaihua in western Hunan. It is possible that "Huaihua Di" is near Huaihua. Wikipedia says her birth place is Yiyang, Hunan Province. This is also a large city, and we know that Sheng Keyi grew up in a small village, but this may just be a reference to a nearby city, or the name of a prefecture (or something similar) around Yiyang.
