Note: This series is listed as "Rustum Migration" on Contento/Locus. The series has:
  • Robin Hood's Barn in Astounding Science Fiction, January 1959.
  • Condemned to Death in Fantastic Universe, October 1959.
  • The Burning Bridge in Astounding Science Fiction, January 1960. This is available on Project Gutenberg as EText number 22554.
  • Orbit Unlimited (1961) A fix-up novel of the three stories published earlier. The story Condemned to Death is titled And Yet So Far in this novel. A new story, The Mill of the Gods was added as part of the fix-up.
  • My Own, My Native Land (1974) in the anthology Continuum 1 edited by Roger Elwood.
  • Passing the Love of Women (1974) in the anthology Continuum 2 edited by Roger Elwood.
  • A Fair Exchange (Dec 1974) in the anthology Continuum 3 edited by Roger Elwood.
  • To Promote the General Welfare (September 1975) in the anthology Continuum 4 edited by Roger Elwood.
  • New America (1982) a collection that includes the four stories published from 1974 to 1975 plus two unrelated stories.
Though there is a 13 year gap from Orbit Unlimited to the stories published in 1974/75 the later stories are a direct continuation of the earlier works. They are set on the same world (Rustum), with many of the same characters, and/or their descendants. Nothing sets these apart from the earlier stories, except for publication dates. Each is a complete story which stands alone. At minimum, a reader interested in the series should read Orbit Unlimited and New America. They would need to get the magazines to see original wording for the first three stories.
