  • Series: Science Fiction Quarterly Series Record # 15041
  • Note: From Tuck's Encyclopedia of Science Fiction and Fantasy: When Hornig began this magazine he published mainly reprint novels and the magazine was reasonably successful. The second series printed new stories, usually including a short novel, and was of average to good quality. The second series also published J. Blish's articles on science in science fiction, R. H. Macklin's on the same subject, and good editorials, and often ran R. Madle's "Inside Science Fiction" column. Science Fiction Quarterly, which had trimmed edges from Aug 1953, was the last of the pulp-sized sf magazines. Publisher: Double Action, Inc.[1 issue], Columbia Publications, Inc. Editor: Charles D. Hornig[2 issues], Robert A. W. Lowndes. See Editor Series Issues: First Series: 10; Second Series: 28 Note: In all issues prior to May 1957 Lowndes is credited as Robert W. Lowndes. Editorial contributions credited by initials are presumed to be Robert W. Lowndes (RWL) or Robert A. W. Lowndes (RAWL). In the early issues of the second run the editorial and letters are both included in the "It Says Here" column with the editorial under the sub-heading "As I Was Saying ...". In later issues the editorials are printed separately and "It Says Here" contains only reader letters.
