George Rex Graham (1813–1894) founded the monthly literary magazine by merger after acquiring Burton's Gentleman's Magazine and Atkinson's Casket in December 1840. Editors include Edgar Allan Poe (1841-42), Rufus Wilmot Griswold (from 1842), Graham as of 1848-50 when he temporarily lost ownership, and Charles Godfrey Leland after Graham departed in 1853 or 1854. --Wikipedia
