  • Note: Early in Charles de Lint's career he wrote several stories, poems and even a novel about Cerin Songweaver and (often) his wife, Meran. In 1987 he began writing more novels and stores set in a generic Canadian/American/North American city called Newford (base on Ottowa, but ... not). The next year he wrote "The Drowned Man's Reel", set in Santa Feliz, California and featuring Cerin & Meran meeting a character who was a Butler U (NEWFORD) alumnus, thus crossing Cerin & Meran into his Newford series. In 2009 he wrote The Mystery of Grace, in his Southwest, finally naming the small city Santo del Vado, Arizona. He'd return to this city again in The Painted Boy and several stories and drop hints placing several of his earlier stories in Santo del Vado and having visitors from Santa Feliz and Newford. And, in 2012 with the first of his "Wildlings" novels, he started to flesh out Santa Feliz, making all these named series, part of one, larger master series.
