Note: Title(s):
Bonfire, one issue (V2, #2) published as
Bonflare
Editor(s): Harry Warner, Jr., Art Widner, Harry Jenkins, Bob Studly, E. E. Evans, and Walt Dunkelberger. We do not have Harry Warner listed as an editor for any issues below, but Fancyclopedia insists that he was an editor during 1941.
Harry Warner, Jr. disagrees with our attributions of editors. He
says that the first 7 issues were edited by: Harry Warner, Jr., #1; Bob Studly, #2, Art Widner, #3; Harry Jenkins, Jr., #4-6; E.E. Evans, #7.
Published by: The National Fantasy Fan Federation
Years of Publication: 1941-44. Continued by "The National Fantasy Fan".
Issues: Vol. #1, 1-5; Vol. #2, 1-2 + NN; Vol. #3, 1-8. Multiple sources tell us that there were 17 issues, and that Vol. 3, #1 was issue #10. That means that there is a Vol. 1 #6, or else that Vol. 2 contained 4 issues. (Much of volume 2 was dropped due to the war, and one source claims that
Bonfire was dropped completely during 1943.) Which issue is missing is unknown; there appear to be no copies of it in the standard fanzine collections.
Format: Fanzine, mimeographed, quarto.
ISSN (if any): --
Description/Overview: Official organ of "The National Fantasy Fan Federation", this was confined almost exclusively to official reports and business of the NFFF.
Notes/Comments: "The word [Bonfire] had no significance, but someone adopted it because it had a vague resemblance to the initials in the official title: Bulletin Of The National Fantasy Fan Federation."
