It was the very first authorized STAR TREK novel produced. It was sanctioned by Desilu Studios and made valuable by Reynolds' death in 1983. It cost 79¢ when it came out and is now worth $20 in fair condition and $40 if in mint condition." The letter was inside the verification copy when purchased.
