Notes: • First British edition [?] • Contento and Tuck have the date as 1913 • Price from Tuck • OCLC record also has 1913 though it seems unlikely it took two years for a simultaneous release to get to Britain In fact, the cited WorldCat record OCLC 21496476 reports year "1913?" and does not report a 1st edition. And that record cited for the [1911] edition, OCLC 2234553 reports London the first-listed publisher location. British Library records as "[1911]" and "[1913]", BL 003885876 and BL 003885877 both state "London : Thomas Nelson & Sons". August publication in Nelson's Sevenpenny Library (Nelson's Library, hardcover format) is clear from the earliest 1913 notices found: The Weekly Irish Times 1913-07-26 p16 notice that another is "now issued", and this is the "next volume"; and listing in The Bookman 1913-08 among "Forthcoming Books, August 1st to September 1st". HathiTrust Digital Library provides full view of one copy from U Virginia, catalogued as "London, T. Nelson and sons, [1913?]". -- frontispiece painting(?) signed Dudley Tennant(?) title page undated, lists London first of multiple locations Pagination 1 to 574 covers all printed pages in one series. -- Introduction, p[iii]-ix -- Contents, p[xi]-xii, lists stories I to XXIII -- stories span p15-574
