Merriam refers to Republican candidate Frank Merriam. Upton Sinclair was the Democratic candidate. Acquired in Medford, Oregon in 1993 from bookseller to whom Bretnor had given a stack of them some years ago. To the best of his recollection he had had them about 15 years so I'm dating this around 1978-1979.
