    • First edition, first printing with "Published 1915" on copyright page. The British edition preceded the U.S. edition [L. W. Currey].
    • Source for August rather than July publication is listings in publisher advertisements: "There will be published in early August ..." (Manchester Guardian 1915-06-24 p5; The Observer -07-04 p3 and -07-18 p6). In those two newspapers -08-05 and -08-01, similar advertisements simply list this title among others without qualification. Several newspapers and magazines evidently received copies, and some reviewed the work, around the turn of July/August. Advertisements include the parenthetical subtitle, consistently without a hyphen.
    • Price 6 shillings is from all those notices and from Tuck. Mills & Boon lists several other books by London, "The author with the wartime sales", in both 6/- and 1/- editions.
