Notes: The stories by Madame d'Aulnoy were translated and adapted by Miss Minnie Wright. The tales of Asbjornsen & Moe were translated from the Norse by Mrs.(Alfred) Hunt. The other French stories(Deulin/Marelles/Lemoine) were translated by Mrs. Lang & Miss Bruce. The stories of Grimm and Kremnitz/Thremnitz were translated from the German by Miss May Sellar, Miss Farquharson & Miss Blackley. The Story of Sigurd was adapted by Andrew Lang from the version of The Volsunga Saga by William Morris. Of the the stories with no credited author: -The 12 Dancing Princesses is from the French version by Charles Deulin. -The Norka, is actually one of the Russian tales from Ralston. -The Wonderful Birch, is a Russo-Karelian tale from the collection Finnische Marchen by Emmy Schreck. -The Black Thief and Knight of the Glen is an Irish story from The Hibernian Tales collection. -Jack and the Beanstalk is 'copied from an old version' by Lady Frances Balfour.
