    • Publication date is inferred from a listing in "New Books Received", San Francisco Chronicle 1900-05-13 p24, and review in "Summer Reading", SF Chron. -06-10 p24. • The May listing simply notes price $1.00. • The June review concludes, "The book may be had at any of the book or periodical stores in the city; price 50 cents." An October advertisement states the same. No indications of format. 1891/1892 newspapers report the first edition published (as by Thomas Bolt) in two formats, cloth 75c and paper 50c, with the 75-cent price alone given in the earliest notice found. HDL appears to hold both the hardcover and the paper edition with original covers. Similar publication in two formats is plausible for this 3rd edition, but quotation of both prices is not found.

Beattie, 207 Sacramento St. San Francisco" (small size, no date) -- copyright 1900 by the Author -- dedication by the Author, p[3-4] (new since the 1st ed.) -- Preface, [5]-64, closes "W. S." -- chapters "Introductory" and I to XV span p74-281 The new "Chapter on Woman Suffrage" is Chapter XII, pp. 213-33, which primarily features "the tardy advance of your women from that complete subjection to men which existed in your primary state." Suffrage in particular, p218-19. The previous chapter is enlarged by a few lines, p212. -- no back pages
