Note: London British Roman Catholic publishing house Succeeded by Burns, Oates & Washbourne James Burns (1808–1871) was a London publisher of the 1830s-60s, as the partnership Burns and Lambert from 1848(?) to 1866. William Wilfred Oates of Bristol publisher Austin & Oates became a partner in 1866, as Burns, Lambert & Oates to 1867. His son Wilfred Oates inherited Burns & Oates. Bloomsbury probably retains the imprint. Continuum owned the imprint at some time.
