Founded in 1941 as a paperback publisher, Avon Books was acquired by the Hearst Corporation in 1959. In 1999, it was purchased (along with William Morrow) by the News Corporation and became an imprint of HarperCollins. All books after 2000 should record the imprint as "Avon Books" (until 2007) and as "Avon" (from 2007) with HarperCollins as the publisher.
