      The catalog numbers shown here come from the Wholesale catalogue & price list, 1879-80, p. 15. We use this sequencing to number the series as well.
    • The 1894-95 McLoughlin Catalog lists the Aunt Kate Series as having 6 titles, as shown here. Hence, we know no books were added to the series at a later point.
    • Non-genre titles in this chapterbook series includes Robinson Crusoe (#3), Blue Beard (#4), and Children in the Wood (#6).
    • According to Jane Yolen these chapterbooks were each sold for 25¢. This, however, must refer to some later printings, because The American Bookseller, Sept. 16, 1878, p. 325, lists them at 15¢ each. (We do not use this reference for the date, because we suspect this is an advance announcement.)
