In this story Miles is in a hospital for surgery. He remembers three episodes from his life (the stories "The Mountains of Mourning", "Labyrinth" and "The Borders of Infinity") while dreaming and in the meantime solves a plot against his father.
The story is split into four chapters and "braided" with the three previously published novellas to create a fix-up novel "Borders of Infinity"
