Synopsis: Dorothy, who lives in Bath with her parents, is in love with Edmond, who lives in London. The family visits Edmond and he keeps urging them to stay longer because he does not want to be separated from Dorothy. He persuades Dorothy and her father to stay even after her mother becomes unwell and returns to Bath alone, and even after the family receives a ghostly message that something has happened to the mother.
