Synopsis: A spaceship pilot on the verge of retirement broods upon the different worlds, creatures and civilizations he has encountered during his career, noting how indifferent he has become to it all. His last mission concerns a puzzling race developing along incomprehensible, illogical principles, and whose main obsession is mutual destruction. As this race was starting to experiment space travel, authorities have judged it necessary to anihilate their planet, Earth.
