Note: In Bleiler's entry on "The Rebel Passion", he says that "[Burdekin's] other fantasy, The Burning Ring, is superior."
The first speculative fiction book by an author who becomes a major influence in feminist SF literature.
Synopsis: A story of an emotionally stunted man who finds a ring that allows him to wish himself into the past. He rescues a proud Roman from being a druid sacrifice, becomes an innkeeper in the time of Charles II, and is a youth in the time of Queen Elizabeth. The journeys become a rite of passage, allowing him to achieve maturity into full manhood.
