Synopsis: From the flaps of the Rich and Cowan first edition: "At the time of this story, many thousands of years hence, the universe is in danger of running down through loss of power potential. Erle Bertron is the one man left on Earth who is physically capable of aligning himself to the source of Cosmic Power, which can rescue the universe from destruction.
General Remiggon, chief of the Metagalaxy, tempts Erle with a substantial sum of money, and leaving his job in a circus where because of his abnormality he is considered a freak in a world of neurotics, he makes the journey through space to Regulus.
During the voyage Volmik, Ruler of Alphirk, a rival galaxy ever anxious to exploit the difficulties of the General, spares no pains to ensure Erle is captured. He attacks him with infra-red rays and high-frequency sonics in an effort to induce him to capitulate.
From here the story moves swiftly on with mounting suspense and incident. Erle meets the lovely Naomi, drawn into the scheme of things because she has absolute pitch, essential to Erle's success. A breath-taking pursuit through space while the all-important experiments are taking place, and the final success.
But that is not all... Erle and Naomi, now married, return to Earth, only to find that the human race is now extinct. How, once again, Erle is able to prove his worth, is told as the closing incident in the astonishing, brilliantly contrived story.
If you like your Science Fiction taut with suspense, intensely readable and thoroughly convincing, then this is a book you will long remember."
