Synopsis: "The Warrens lived in a pleasant house at the seashore in England. Rugby Warren was an inventor with little money, he enjoyed the comforts provided by his father-in-law's wealth. He & his wife, Maria, befriended a young man named Julius Cleghorn, who enjoyed visiting them weekends & working on their boat. One evening Julius arrived and gave Maria an innocent bear hug. Rugby saw this through a window, and wrongly suspected them of being lovers. He could never prove it, but nevertheless plotted to blow them up in the boat. First, he arranged for them to go out often in the boat alone, saying he was busy. He planned to be along when the destructive action took place, but expected to save himself. The day the mishap was to occur, Maria & Julius came to him to tell him that on the previous day, like a bolt from the blue, they realized they were in love." (The New Yorker)
