Synopsis: Lawrence intends to fulfill his promise to Holo, to convey her to Yoitsu, even though he has heard that Yoitsu was destroyed many years ago. His plans are upset when they get to Kumersun. First, local merchant Amati literally believes Holo's story that she is bound by debt to Lawrence. He forces on Lawrence a dagger-contract; he will pay Holo's debt, free her, and then he will propose marriage to her. Then, to make matters worse, Holo finally hears the story of Yoitsu's destruction, and emotionally upset, "What am I to you?", she just might now turn to Amati for the intimate comfort she now craves.
