Synopsis: One of an intrepid company of eight, the author sets asil in the yacht "Impossible" to search for Mount Analogue, the solid, geographically located, albeit hidden, peak that reaches inexorably towards heaven – as once Mount Olympus reached to the home of the Greek gods, or Mount Sinai to the presence of Yahweh. Daumal's awesome symbolic mountain represents a way to truth that 'cannot not exist', and his classic allegory of man's search for himself embraces the certainty that one can know and conquer one's own reality. The influence of Daumal's mentor G.I. Gurdjieff is evident in the powerful and and convincing myth reated in Mount Analogue; and that Daumal died before the book was completed gives the journey to, and the ascent of, Mount Analogue an uncanny one-way quality that the reader cannot help bur share.
