1945ⓘThis rather famous paper appears in at least two somewhat different versions. The one in <i>Voices from the Sky</i> (1965) reprints the original from <i>Wireless World</i> for October 1945. It contains four figures and two equations in the text as well as a list of seven references in the the end. A facsimile is reprinted in <i>Ascent to Orbit</i> (1984) The version in <i>Greetings, Carbon-Based Bipeds!</i> (1999) is much simplified, omitting all technical details. Apart from that, the text itself is only very slightly revised. Clarke calls this "my final - I hope - version".
