It seems to have nothing to do with either Atlantis or Atlanta (as far as we can tell browsing through the book). Another meaning in Atlantean is pertaining to Mount Atlas or, figuratively speaking, those who reach a pinnacle of success after great struggle. This is mostly a story of a boy's struggles at a school and has Christian overtones. One interesting chapter is on "Duck-Shooting." The protagonist is a young fellow named Adam Lore."
