Synopsis: From the back cover of the DAW Books first edition: He was sworn to aid those in need and whether the sick were his fellow human beings or the natives of the planet Ardel, Dr. Sinykin Inda would fight to save them - even if it meant violating a firect order to remain within the confines of the Terran base of operations on Ardel. Although Inda understood politics and corporate infighting as well as anyone, he would not stand idly by while plague decimated the native population. Not when he had developed a vaccine which could prevent countless deaths.
But when Inda fled the base in response to a plea for help from the Mentor named Jeryl and the Master Healer called Hanra-bae, he embarked on a journey which would not only see him forsaking his own people but would thrust him into a conflict between two Ardellan factions - those ready for the possibilities and the changes which humans offered, and those determined to drive every last human off Ardel, even if they must use long-forbidden and deadly powers to do so...
