Note:
6 colour illustrations
Uncredited in 1911
In the 1911 first edition of the novel (viewed at HathiTrust), the six illustrations are a frontispiece and 5 plates not included in the pagination, but listed on page viii as 6 interior plates. They are not credited in the book, nor in known library records.
The illustrations are signed by Smith, "PCS" so stylized that it is not legible, but scrutable with knowledge that she is the artist --from her Wikipedia biography, for instance.
At least two of the six have been used as front cover illustrations for later editions of the novel:
• "Lady Arabella was dancing in a fantastic sort of way." (originally facing p. 86)
• "They could follow the tall white shaft." (originally facing p. 222)
Wikipedia displays those two and no others as a Gallery at the foot of its novel article.
