Note: This story was first published in January 1921 in the general-interest magazine 改造, Kaizō, "Reconstruction" or "Restructuring". The original Japanese title of this story, 秋山図, is transcribed as Shūzanzu in the Revised Hepburn notation, and means "Autumn Mountain Figure" (sinicized pronunciation, after Mandarin qiūshān tú). It is composed of 秋, aki, "autumn, fall", 山, yama, "mountain" and 図, zu, "figure".
