Note: The medieval duke of Auge, bored with the historical situation, decides to go to Paris, riding his talking horse Demosthenes and accompanied by his page Mouscaillot. In 1964, Cidrolin lives his own Parisian life on his barge, continually repainting a fence that keeps being scribbled upon. Each one, when he sleeps, dreams that he is the other. As the duke rides towards the capital, he also travels in time through different historical periods, slowly nearing 1964. What will happen when the two characters (or the two dreams) eventually meet ?
