Note: This fixup novel was published, in slightly different form, in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, in installments entitled 'Hothouse', 'Nomansland', 'Undergrowth', 'Timberline', and 'Evergreen'. The US variant, 'The Long Afternoon of Earth', is slightly abridged from the UK edition - the US didn't get a full "Hothouse" till 1976. As usual with Aldiss, the "W." may or may not appear on Cover/Spine/Copyright Page, etc, so please stick with title page author when checking.
Synopsis: The far future. The sun is about to go nova. Earth and moon have ceased their axial rotation and present one face continuously to the sun. The bright side of Earth is covered with a a vast carnivorous forest. The protagonists, Gren and his lady, journey to the terrifying dark side of the earth.
