Note: Composed 1944, copyrighted 1945 As published by Penguin Books (undated 5th printing, below) the Postscript in that publication is signed "Ayot Saint Lawrence, 1944". 1946 newspaper coverage of The World's Classics #500 notes that Oxford University Press approached Shaw two years ago about issuing an edition as #500 in the series, in conjunction with his 90th birthday (July 1946). The postscript was written for this edition, the publisher notes concerning both its 1946 and 1947 editions.
