Note: Called povest' by Fantlab and the original publisher, but well over 70 000 words. First serialized in Пионерская правда (Pionyerskaya pravda) bi-weekly, 1965-1967 in somewhat different form. Both versions translated into Czech as by Alexandr Lomm (in 1966–7 in the sister Pionýrské noviny weekly, respectively in 1981 by Albatros publishing house, trans Olga Ptáčková-Macháčková).

Synopsis: After his parachute fails to open, a Soviet partisan dropped to Czechoslovakia discovers he can fly. Dubbed "Night Eagle", he becomes the scourge of local Nazis and collaborators, and target of a manhunt.
