But the manuscript absolutely survived and, for the first time, is officially presented here to the general public in its complete, original, unabridged, and unaltered form. After years of persistence, literary scholar Thomas Huff persuaded the Torrance Literary Estate that, in his hands, All Work and No Play would be treated with the respect and dignity it deserved and a publication agreement was finally reached. Due to the unconventional formatting of the prose, the manuscript then underwent an exhaustive transcription process to ensure every detail of the original text was reproduced exactly as typed by Torrance in 1978. The result serves as a long-overdue celebration of this under-appreciated visionary author's most infamous work.
