Note: Frederik Pohl included this story in his 1982 anthology "Yesterday's Tomorrows". His introduction to this story (P 272 & 273) notes that Sheckley had been struggling with writer's block, and was halfway through a novel he could not finish. Pohl was allowed to read that 1/2, and he "perceived that one of the chapters needed only tiny changes to become a story in itself". He pointed this out to Sheckley, who turned in "Street of Dreams, Feet of Clay" and Pohl published it in Galaxy. Although not noted by Pohl, much of the text from "Street of Dreams, Feet of Clay" is included in the 1968 Sheckley novel, "Dimension of Dreams" as substantial portions of Chapters 22 and 23. I assume this is the novel Sheckley was struggling with.
