Title: Nada the Lily Title Record # 823125
Author: H. Rider Haggard
Date: 1892-00-00
Type: NOVEL
Series: Zulu Nation
Series Number: 1
Webpages: visualhaggard.org, Wikipedia-EN
Language: English
Note: This is a prequel to Allan Quatermain (1887), in featuring Quatermain's Zulu companion Umslopogaas as a young man. It is "unusual for a Victorian novel in that its entire cast of characters is South African and black." --Wikipedia (ISFDB series Zulu Nation contains this work alone because Haggard's other Zululand stories are in series Allan Quatermain. This one is set earliest among them, c. 1800 per Wikipedia.) Published as a serial in The Illustrated London News, 1892-01-02 to 1892-05-07, with illustrations by R. Caton Woodville. --VisualHaggard.org (Dates not confirmed. One unknown source reports year 1891, no dates.)
Synopsis: Nada the Lily is set at the time of Shaka, the Zulu king, around whom much of the action turns, but essentially the book is the story of Umslopogaas, & "his love for Nada, the most beautiful of Zulu women."
