"The Night Ride", by Aingelda & Edward Ardizzone is borderline genre. "Some old toys long in the cupboard were thrown in the dustbin. They find their way out and into an old engine and climb in for the ride of their lives. Eventually they come to rest by the railroad track where a new owner finds and loves them."
