- To quote Help:Contents/Purpose:
- The ISFDB Wiki is not a place to record author biographies. It's harmless to add biographical information to these pages, but it may be deleted by editors who work the bibliographies of those authors. Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org) is an excellent place for biographies of sf authors, and the ISFDB has a facility for adding a link to the Wikipedia article for each author.
- And to quote the FAQ:
- The ISFDB database layout is great for well-structured data like titles, series names, and ISBN's. It doesn't work so well for free-form text like an author biography. The ISFDB author biographies were always an area of great churn, and mediating submitter differences could be difficult. We're now relying on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) as the location for author biographies, and we formally support linking an author's bibliography to their Wikipedia biography.
- In other words, non-bibliographic data within this Wiki is strictly incidental and can (and probably will) be moved to Wikipedia at will. Really, folks, there is no reason to spend an appreciable amount of time on adding biographical data to a bibliographical tool. We have enough on our plates as it is :) Ahasuerus 22:16, 11 Sep 2006 (CDT)
