From Manchester, UK, educated at Durham University, UK, and previously an IT consultant, Graeme Shimmin retired aged 35 to an island off Donegal, Ireland, to start writing his debut novel A Kill in the Morning, inspired by classic sci-fi and spy fiction.

In 2013, A Kill in the Morning was shortlisted for the Terry Pratchett First Novel Award and then bought by Transworld. It was published in June 2014.
