Born in Eshowe, Zululand (or more proper: The Zulu Kingdom) in 1897, which was then a crown colony of the British Empire. There was no (Union of) South Africa until 1910. Zululand was incorporated into the crown colony of Natal as British Zululand on 1 December 1897. --Dirk P Broer 01:08, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
