Vernor Vinge
The title page has

True Names
Vernor Vinge
The back cover has a blurb about Nightflyers, a blurb about True Names, and then
BINARY STAR #5 presents these two outstanding
novellas with specially commissioned illustrations
by Hugo award-winning artist Jack Gaughan. Each
author has also contributed an Afterword about his
fellow-writer's work. The volume is introduced by series
editor James R. Frenkel.
Presumably more Binary Star books were planned or hoped for as the introduction ends with "My own feeling is that Binary Star #5 is the best book in the series thus far. You'll have to decide for yourself."
