Imprint of Pan Macmillan. There is also a younder reader's imprint Young Picador.

Picador was launched in 1972 with the aim of publishing outstanding international writing in paperback. Picador authors included Angela Carter, Thomas Pynchon, Bret Easton Ellis and Salman Rushdie. In 1990, Picador started publishing its own hardcovers.

The imprint was launched in the US in 1995.
