Honeymoon in Hell

The page numbers for the stories in Honeymoon in Hell do not match those in my copy of the same book. In fact the page number of the last story (Imagine) is stated as Page 170, which is 20 pages beyond the stated page count. Hi Don. I just received a couple of the Berkley Medallion 1970s G-8 and His Battle Aces. Two of these you're prime verifier: Purple Aces and Ace of the White Death. I notice you've put the Berkley series #'s (2 and 3) in the title itself. The #'s are in the upper-right of the title pages and I wonder if it would be more appropriate to leave them off the title and create a Publication Series, something along the line of G-8 and His Battle Aces (Berkley). Also for the third printing. This raises a few questions. There is a note on the first printing stating that it's publication date is from a printing history in the third. Does that printing history also mention the date of the second printing? I'd like to add the 2nd, but would prefer to give it a date if we can. Also, James N. Hall's Cabell bibliography states that the third printing identifies the cover artist as Rowland Wilson. Can you verify that? Is so, we can add him to the records for all three printings. Lastly, does the third printing include the subtitle "A Comedy of Justice" as the first does? If so, we should update the publication record to reflect that. Comparison needed

James Brach Cabell Editions

Hi Don.

I've got some changes I'd like to make to two different James Branch Cabell titles. While there are several verifiers, you have verified the majority of the editions, so I'm going to start the conversation here and invite the others to join in.

The first changes I'd like to make aren't really controversial, so I'll just go ahead. The first one is to add the introduction and epilogue for "The Lineage of Lichfield" to The Cream of the Jest: The Lineage of Lichfield. I'm also going to go ahead and add any missing Worldcat and Library of Congress numbers to these printings as well as to those for Domnei / The Music from Behind the Moon.

The other change I'd like to make is to convert these two titles, which we currently have as collections, to omnibus titles. I feel that both these titles fit our definition of omnibus, as in both cases the shorter work included with the novel was published previously (here and here). Listing these as omnibus titles would also enable us to have the series number included on the series bibliography page as is done with From the Hidden Way: The Jewel Merchants. Translations of "The Horla"

As you surely know, back in the early days of the DB, different translations of the same story weren't given separate title records, but now this practice has changed. I'm about to sort the various English translations of Guy de Maupassant's "The Horla" into separate title records and wanted to consult you, as a primary verifier, before I do so. Here is the title record for all the publications that haven't been sorted yet, and here is the list I made, of all the translations I know of (thirteen of them) and which publications belong to which. I hope you can contribute some more information.

C. Beyond the Curtain of Dark, ed. Peter Haining. No. 6, Jameson/Boyd.
D. The Dracula Book of Great Vampire Stories, ed. Leslie Shepard. No. 4, uncredited/England.
E. Midnight Fright. No. 4, uncredited/England.
F. H. P. Lovecraft's Book of Horror, ed. Stephen Jones & Dave Carson. No. 4, uncredited/England.

For each of these -- and also other publications in the DB if you happen to have them -- could you please confirm that I have correctly identified the translation and/or supply the missing information? Please do that by comparing the first paragraph of the story to the comparison page. Then let me know what exact translator credit is given, if any. And if it's a translation where I don't yet have the first paragraph, I'd like you to add it to that page.

Furthermore, sometimes this story was printed with the subtitle "or Modern Ghosts" and I suspect that this isn't always correctly recorded in the DB. If you see that subtitle (or other title variations) I'd like to know.

Regarding the 1972 Bantam Books 1st ed. of We by Zamyatin: Notes on the 2nd printing that you verified P298931 mention a more informative 6th printing.
