Welcome!

Hello, Eraser25, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:19, 21 March 2021 (EDT)

Mîncătorii de ziduri serializations

For [1], [2], and [3], what is the source for the 1991 date? If these serializations were previously published, the best thing would be to add the pubs they appeared in. But at a minimum, we should have a "First appeared in" statement in the title notes. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:19, 21 March 2021 (EDT)

As there has been no response, I have had to reject the edits. If you stop back and provide the source, I will make the necessary edits. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:54, 30 March 2021 (EDT)

Hello. Sorry for the delayed response. I know for sure that those three editions of IRIS SF appeared in 1991 because I own them and I bought them in that year (it was my second year of high school). Unfortunately, the year isn't printed anywhere on them (I checked every page). I searched on the Internet and I didn't found much. But I found this: the printing was done at a state printing company witch had the name changed later that year by an official government decision (I'll provide the link later this day - I have it at my home and I'm at work now and I forgot that name :)). -- Eraser25 05:46, 1 April 2021 (EDT)

As I mentioned earlier, I can provide some evidence for 1991 date. Here is a link of a photo made by me with all three Iris SF Magazine that contain Serge Bussolo's novel, with the name of the printing company: [4]. The name is "I.P. 13 Decembrie 1918" - I.P. stands for "Intreprinderea Poligrafica" (Printing Company). And here is a link with Romanian Government Decision 171/1991 from march 1991: [5]. It's in Romanian, but you can use Google Translate to undestand. In the table, at row B, it's mentioned that the name of "I.P. 13 Decembrie 1918" was changed in "Romcart SA" starting march 1991. So, the year 1991 was the last one to hear about "I.P. 13 Decembrie 1918" and after that, the name of the printing company was "Romcart SA". This is all I have found to sustain my claim. I hope is enough. -- Eraser25 03:04, 2 April 2021 (EDT)
JLaTondre seems to be away (day jobs and families... what can you do) :) So let me try to assist here a bit. Even the previous answer was enough technically. You buying them in 1991 is enough - especially as I will ask you if you want to work with me to update and complete the records of these magazines and then verify them? And welcome to the DB! Ok. What should I do? Should I re-edit them? Eraser25 16:24, 2 April 2021 (EDT)
Yep. Let's try with the first one. Go to this. Edit it and add the rest of the contents, fixing the date of the publication and all the titles inside? Or at least start. :) If you have any questions, just post back. If you rather not do it today, that's also ok :) Annie 16:34, 2 April 2021 (EDT)
To clarify a bit, instead of re-editing the serial title records, edit the publications (Annie provided a link to the first one) and change all the dates to 1991 and add a publication note that the source of the date is based on your purchase date and the publisher information you provided. Hope that makes sense. If not, let us know. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:21, 2 April 2021 (EDT)

Ok. I'll do that. Later today, if I'll have time or tomorrow. :) Eraser25 09:19, 3 April 2021 (EDT)

Iris SF, #6

A few notes:

  • Translators go into the notes and not as "Translated by XXX" in the author fields
  • Iris SF is the magazine series so it is added as a title series, not publication one.
  • The price should be "currency number" so "Lei 25" and not "25 lei"
  • Question - the whole magazine is about SF, correct? In this case we want the names of the editors (the "Editors of" only applies to non-genre magazines).

The result is here. If you have any questions, let me know. I will approve the other 2 as well and unless there are different types of notes, consider the same notes being noted :) Annie 06:27, 5 April 2021 (EDT)
