Welcome!

Hello, Hegg, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 16:58, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

Linking to images on outside servers

I had to reject your submission to link to an image on an outside server (imageshack). We must have explicit permission in order to deep link to files on other servers because we draw bandwidth from that server to display that image file for our record. Here is a list of websites which have given us permission. You may also download the image file to your hard drive and then upload it to the ISFDB server. Use the link "Upload cover scan" on the publication record and follow directions. (DO NOT use the "Upload file" link on the wiki for cover images.) The image can not be more than 150K is size and no taller than 600 pixels. Thanks. Mhhutchins 17:04, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. Sorry for the trouble, I didn't read through the edit guides well enough. I've re-sized the book image and I'm going to try again, this time uploading from my hard-drive. Thanks for your tips, and your patience! All best Hegg 09:38, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
First part accomplished here. Now you have to link the image to the publication record. In order to get the URL (address) for the image you just uploaded, left click anywhere on the image and copy the URL from your browser's address window. (Or right click on the image and choose "Copy Image Location".) Go back to the publication record, click the "Edit This Pub" link under the Editing Tools menu, and enter the URL you just copied into the "Image URL" field. Then submit for moderator approval. Once that is done, go over the publication record to see if everything is correct. You may have to remove the source Note if you're working from an actual copy of the book. If so, edit the record, and then do a Primary Verifcation of it (Help link in the Welcome section above.) Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 16:11, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks again for the help. I've linked the image to the record (I think), waiting for mod approval.Hegg 19:42, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Accepted. Everything looks good. Do a Primary Verification if you have a copy of the book. Thanks. Mhhutchins 22:13, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

Cover image file size limits

I've resized this file to be within the ISFDB standard of 150 kb or less. Please keep that limit in mind when uploading future cover image files. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 18:01, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Ah, my apologies. I thought it was under the limit, not sure how I missed that. Thanks for resizing it for me. Hegg 18:02, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
