Cover art credit for Prophets in Hell

Can you confirm the spelling of the cover artist's credit in this record? If the spelling is correct please make the cover art credit a variant by Peter Scanlan. Thanks. Mhhutchins 05:15, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

The copyright page lists the artist as "Scanlon" and I don't see a signature. There are no other editions of the publication that credit "Scanlan", nor is "Scanlan" credited with any other titles in the series. If you have a source for the publication credit being a typo vs. a different person, I'll leave it to you to create the variant. -- JLaTondre (talk) 21:50, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
The spelling of the name has been used several times, enough for a pseudonym to be created. Again, if the record's credit matches the book credit, you can create a variant of the cover art record. Mhhutchins 03:42, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
While a pseudonym does exist, I don't see any information as to how that was determined (no notes at the publication level or title level; no publications with same cover credited to both versions). While I agree it is likely to the same person, I am not comfortable making such changes on the mere fact that it differs by only a single letter (that's a slippery slope). The same artwork used in your verified record was used for the Gurps role-playing game Grimoire, and is credited to Peter Scanlan here. Hope this is enough evidence that "Peter Scanlon" is a misspelled credit for Peter Scanlan. 00:41, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Mhhutchins

It's not actually a broken link - Amazon are returning a 1 pixel blank image. Obviously that's of no use to us, but it's not a "404 Not Found" error. BLongley 16:57, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

While the artwork is the same, the text is not. However, your question made me dig back through the discussion archives and I found that we generally do merge those cases even if they are not exact duplicates. I went ahead and merged them. Please see the message I left on the submitter's page concerning this record. It's a good idea to get new editors to either do a primary verification or record the source for their data. And linking to the record in the wiki message will help them too. Thanks for handling the submission. I saw that it had been in the queue for some time. And that's a dilemma I've had to face for five years. I would hope that new editors are thick-skinned when it comes to my handling of their submissions, but every so often (rarely) I've ran a few away. I actually caught my mistake on marking it as a full novel (they had a different SS only e-book that I saw first, and did not pay attention to the link I clicked to find the proper hardcopy version) when it was a short story inside a different novel after I had submitted. I wanted to change it, but was not sure how and assumed it might just be rejected and then I would resubmit. Just wanted to avoid redundant activities for the moderators to edit. No worries about being thin or thick skinned, I am quite aware that you cannot take much time for every submission. I will try to learn and hopefully be able to help make you lists more complete. If you click the "My Pending Edits" link under the "Logged In As" heading on the left side of the ISFDB pages, it will show any submissions that have not yet been accepted by a moderator. You are able self-reject such edits so if you ever find yourself in a similar position, you can always cancel it yourself and make a new one vs. waiting on a moderator. Glad you're here. The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror 2008: Twenty-First Annual Collection

I've made the following change in the trade paperback edition of this title which also changed your verified record of the hardcover edition: I changed the author credit for the story on page 27 from "M. Ricket" to M. Rickert. I've also changed the title of the trade paperback to The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror 2008: Twenty-First Annual Collection (note the ampersand), which is how my book is credited on the title page.
