F&SF April '59

You wrote on the page "ISFDB:Site Support" (which you created):

Fantasy and Science Fiction April 1959
volume 16 No. 4 confirmed by Joy Meredith <email omitted> I have the book and all the stories check out

Thank you for confirming this. We actually have a way set up for users to indicate that they have a book, magazine, or other publication, and that our data has been checked and found correct.

  1. First, go to the main ISFDB page, at http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/index.cgi
  2. Click the link marked "Log in" in the upper left of the page. Log in using the same ID and password you created to log in to the ISFDB wiki.
  3. Navigate to the page for the specific issue of a magazine, or specific edition/printing of a book that you want to confirm. (We call this a "publication".) You can do this by doing a "Name" search on the author or editor, or a "Title" search. The search tool is in the very upper left corner of the screen. (In the case of the April 1959 issue of F&SF, the page is at http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?FSFApr1959).
  4. Check that all our information is correct and complete.
  5. If someone else has already verified this publication (his or her user name will appear in green on "Primary" line on the publication display page) you do not have to verify the work too, but you can add your confirmation if you wish
  6. If all our info is correct for that publication, click the link "Verify This Pub" which is at the end of the "Editing Tools" section of the navbar on the left of the screen.
  7. On the "Verification Status" page, change the row labeled "Primary" from "Not Verified" to "Not Verified" by clicking in the proper circle. If someone else has already verified this publication, use the "Primary (Transient)" line instead. Also use "Primary (Transient)" if you are verifying from a library copy, or a copy you plan to sell or give away. This signals that you may not be able to answer questions about the publication in the future.
  8. If our information is not correct and complete, you can add or correct information. Click on the "Edit This Pub" link in the "Editing Tools" section of the navbar on the publication display page. Look at the Help:Screen:EditPub page for more information on what data to enter and how to format it.

Thank you for helping improve the accuracy and coverage of the ISFDB.

It is probably not a good idea to post your email address on a public site such as this. I have removed it. If you choose to, you can include your email address as part of your ISFDB wiki profile/preferences. Then other users can send you email (if you enable that feature in your preferences) but the address is not posted for spammers to harvest.

I hope this note is helpful to you, and that you continue to use and to contribute to the ISFDB. Thank you and welcome. -DES Talk 15:25, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
