The Silmarillion

Hi, I've imported content for your verified copy of The Silmarillion.--Dirk P Broer 10:02, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Sounds good. Thanks. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:09, 7 October 2016 (UTC)

Ryōgo Narita and Naritaverse

Earlier today I noticed that we show the English name of 成田良悟 as "Ryōgo Narita". However, Amazon's cover scans and Look Inside suggest that the publisher spelled the author's name "Ryohgo Narita". Would you happen to know more about this? Ahasuerus 16:56, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

That's one of the alternative romanizations for the long vowel. Possible romanizations for the long "o" (o, ō, ou, oh, oo).--Rkihara 17:21, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Oh, sure, I realize that there are many ways to skin this particular cat :-) I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing anything before I changed "Ryōgo Narita" to "Ryohgo Narita". Of course, if we ever find a publication that uses "Ryōgo Narita", we'll add it as another pseudonym. Ahasuerus 17:26, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, it looks like that's the one he uses (Ryohgo). We should keep Ryōgo as a transliteration, though. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:30, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Changed, thanks. Ahasuerus 20:31, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Also, could you please take a look at my question over on ISFDB:Verification requests? Ahasuerus 22:17, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Sure. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:09, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Additions to Notes for Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen

Hi, I have added quite a lot of information to the Notes for Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen. This includes LCCN, Canada price, more info on what is on copyright page & cover, notes on content. I am working from 1st printing so I expect it will all match yours -- just letting you know. BungalowBarbara 23:46, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

Mostly Magic story "Lazy Jack"

Hi, you verified the 1958 collection Mostly Magic 573294 (and i presume you are the one who entered so much data nicely).

Now (in the queue) I re-dated the Lazy Jack story and its illustration 1890. Wikipedia lists the Contents of the 1890 collection as does this WorldCat library record of the 1967 Dover edition, o[1]. (The 1890 collection is in the queue as i depart [2]. Later I will link some OCLC record that lists the contents, this one from 1967 if i cannot find an earlier.) --Pwendt|talk 00:09, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Sounds good. I don't think any of the stories included in Mostly Magic and its sister publications were original to those publications. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:25, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

SF as Hamlet: Science Fiction and Philosphy

Would you please double check the spelling of "Philosphy" in SF as Hamlet: Science Fiction and Philosphy from Robot Ghosts and Wired Dreams: Japanese Science Fiction from Origins to Anime? Is this misspelled as such in the publication or is this a typo in the database? If the typo is in the database, it should be corrected. If the typo is in the publication, a note should be added to the title record stating the spelling is per the publication. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:30, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

I'll check it when I get home. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 14:51, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

Tonari no Totoro

I removed 小説 from the title of your verified pub となりのトトロ since I don't think it is part of the title, but a tag to distinguish the light novel from the manga.--Rkihara 03:19, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

It's the equivalent of the "A Novel" part of the title, so it would be considered a subtitle. It should likely be added back. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:23, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
I did that based on the cover image, where it looks more like a labeling. If you're certain, I'll put it back.--Rkihara 16:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
I'll look at the title page when I get home and we can base it on that. I don't remember what it said at the moment. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:00, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
The title page has 小説 centered above となりのトトロ, which would translate to "My Neighbor Totoro: The Novel" or "My Neighbor Totoro: A Novel". I think it should be changed back to 小説 となりのトトロ. Also, I didn't mention this before, but there is no Totoro manga (unless you count the film comics, which are just scenes from the movie with speech bubbles and effects words added). Therefore, there doesn't need to be any distinction between them. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:46, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
Changed back to 小説 となりのトトロ.--Rkihara 01:12, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

王晋康 / Wang Jinkang

When you get a chance, could you please review this author's page? Any additional data on transliterations would be great. Also, Amazon's Look Inside shows the Chinese title for Pathological, which I can't duplicate here. TIA! Ahasuerus 01:49, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Took a little work (since I don't speak or read Chinese), but I I submitted them. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:15, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I have approved the submissions and linked/merged the data, so we should be in better shape now :) Ahasuerus 20:20, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Nisioisin

Fixer has found two English books by Nisioisin and it looks like more are on the way. When you get a chance, could you please massage this author? TIA! Ahasuerus 23:23, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Looks much better, thanks! A couple of follow-up questions: Is the author's canonical name "Nisioisin" or is it "西尾維新" as per Wikipedia? Also, should we put the two translated works in a series, also as per Wikipedia? Ahasuerus 14:19, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
A lot of his works have "niʃioiʃin" or "NISIOISIN" for the romanization. Those and 西尾維新 (Nishio Ishin) are pen names, but I can't find anywhere that indicates what his real name is. I've added the two to the "物語 (Monogatari)" series. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:52, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
I couldn't find the novels searching for "Monogatari" in series. Are they listed differently?--Rkihara 22:07, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
The submissions might not have been approved yet. I see the series as the second listing here. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:54, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

Kumo Kagyu and Yuu Miyazaki

Fixer has found two new light novel authors, Kumo Kagyu and Yuu Miyazaki. If you don't mind, I will leave them to your tender mercies :-) Ahasuerus 00:25, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

The "ligth novel" tag ([3]) needs to have the typo fixed on this one. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:26, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Okay, I think I've got them all fixed up. I also submitted the entire series for Miyazaki since I like the art. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:30, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
Approved and varianted, thanks! Could you please also check the pseudonyms' "Family Name" fields? I suspect they may be using the wrong names. Ahasuerus 22:27, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
They seem to be fine. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:26, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Maoyū Maō Yūsha

When you get a chance, do you think you could add the Maoyū Maō Yūsha light novels? We already have Mamare Touno's Log Horizon light novels, so it would be nice to have the other series as well. Especially considering the fact that the related anime is available in English. TIA! Ahasuerus 17:23, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Will you edit 橙乃 ままれ so the name is instead 橙乃ままれ (no space)? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:50, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Sure! I have now merged the two author records and the result is here. It looks like the 6 Maoyū Maō Yūsha titles are incorrectly identified as English translations, but that's easy to fix. But what about the two Maoyū Maō Yūsha series? Are they parts 1 and 2 of a larger superseries? Ahasuerus 21:03, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
I've submitted the corrections to Japanese. I also submitted a series update to make the Gaiden series a subseries of the main one. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:08, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
Looks great, thanks! Ahasuerus 21:14, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Pub/titles mismatches

Hello,

When you have a chance, can you look at a couple of Japanese titles/publications titles mismatches? 人道の卷 and 産霊山秘錄 - they seem to have the same transliterations but different spellings (and other publications under the same titles have the same spelling as the title record). Do these need adjusted titles in the publications or do they need varianting if they are legitimately different? Thanks! Anniemod 22:35, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

I'll have to look at these for a bit. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:56, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into them! :) Anniemod 23:02, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
And one more 攻殻機動隊 Stand Alone Complex 眠り男の棺 although this one does not have other publications with a different name so the only question is if the pub title or the title record has the correct spelling. Thanks! Anniemod 22:52, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
That was just a typo. I submitted corrections. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:56, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

And a few more. When you have a chance - 2 remaining, all yours :) Thanks! Anniemod 22:45, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Scarlett's New Friend and Lucy and the Magic Crystal

I have approved your submissions and set up a VT for Amber's First Task/Amber's First Clue. There were 2 ISBNs that I had to adjust:

  • The ISBN for Scarlett's New Friend, 0-7475-8769-9, had a bad checksum. I have changed it to 0-7475-8769-8 as per Amazon UK.
  • Lucy and the Magic Crystal had the same problem. I have changed the ISBN from 0747587705 to 0747587701 as per Amazon UK.

Everything else looks good, we'll just need a bunch of VTs set up. Ahasuerus 03:32, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Okay, updates should be submitted. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:21, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Looks good, thanks! I have also added "story length" values to the 2 Japanese omnibuses. Ahasuerus 23:58, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
I have two pending edits for that, so I'll just cancel them. There's also a series delete submission that needs to be approved. Thanks! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:44, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Typo fixing notification

I fixed a couple typos in Washed by a Wave of Wind--Vasha 23:44, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

Specifically what typos? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:31, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
"About the Contributors (Washed by a Wave of Wind: Science Fiction from the Corridor)" was previously "About the Contributors (Washed by a Wavend: Science Fiction From the Corridor)". I see that I didn't yet change the capital "From" in the publication title, though I intended to. --Vasha 16:25, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

Question about Shattered Shields

Hi, I have a question about your verified copy of Shattered Shields. I am looking at the mass-market paperback version rather than the trade paperback. For the story "A Cup of Wisdom", the author's name appears as Joseph Zieja rather than Joe Zieja. This is true both in the Table of Contents and on the title page of the story. Is this true for your trade paperback copy? Thanks. BungalowBarbara 05:35, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

"Lady White Snake: A Tale from Chinese Opera"

I realize that you don't know Chinese, but with Linguist on vacation I am not sure who else to ask. Could you please take a look at "Lady White Snake: A Tale from Chinese Opera"? It's a bilingual edition of what a famous Chinese folk tale. I have set it up as a collection and entered the Chinese title from Wikipedia, but it would be nice to have another pair of eyes review the result. TIA! Ahasuerus 22:57, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Japanese publication needs help

When you have some time, this publication 宇宙恐怖物語 can use a Japanese eye (and hand, and keyboard...) :) Thanks! Annie 18:59, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

Where did you find the info about this volume? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:54, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
(Note to self) 宇宙科学小説シリーズ. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:58, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
I was not the one that added it unfortunately :) It popped on the "Multi language publications" report and as I cannot even read Japanese, I cannot chase down the Japanese titles of the stories as I am doing for European languages books in the same situation. And as it was just one Japanese book that popped up there, thought I will ask if you can get it cleared :) Thanks. Annie 20:05, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
No problem. I'll see what I can sort out. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:00, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
It's going to take a bit of work as I have to change everything over to Japanese. That involves removing all the stories, adding them back in Japanese, then varianting them appropriately. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:48, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Placing these here for reference:

003 はしがき(宇宙恐怖物語) (Introduction (Science Fiction Terror Tales)), ESSAY, グルフ・コンクリン Groff Conklin
   010 解説 (Explanation), ESSAY, unknown
015 空間の決闘 (Arena), SHORTFICTION, フレデリック・ブラウン Fredric Brown

207 あとがき, ESSAY, 下島連 (Muraji Shimojima)

This one is apparently not in it per the National Diet Library of Japan:

Through Channels, SHORTFICTION, Richard Matheson --

This will make the varianting process easier. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:50, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, I know - I am doing the same for Italian, Polish and Finnish collections since yesterday so I feel your pain :) The fastest way for me seems to be:
1. Add variant to the story - this allows you to do an already connected variant that does not get lost somewhere by mistake.
2. Repeat for all the stories.
Once these are accepted and approved:
3. Import all the new titles into the work (Import/Export can do bulk import).
4. Remove all the English language ones. These last 2 can be sumbitted at the same time.
You probably have your own system but though I would share what works for me. :) Have fun with that and thanks for getting it cleaned up. Annie 04:06, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Varianting titles

Hello, I've approved your proposed variants for the titles in the Conklin anthology, but shouldn't you variant directly to the full english original (in roman) instead of creating a new title in japanese with the author in roman script? Hauck 09:16, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to fix things. The duplicate check doesn't find them (not even the aggressive check), but the following titles need to be merged:

So, that's where it stands. I'm happy to do the merging if someone can explain how to do it. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:58, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

A Sense of History: The Best Writing from the Pages of American Heritage

Hello, to the best of my knowledge, we do not enter non-fiction essays in non-genre titles as seems to be the case for your submission (think about the sheer volume of such data). Plus, the Silverberg essays doesn't seem to be "about" spec-fic and is of course not of book-length (i.e. a NONFICTION typed record) so it largely fall outside our scope (see here). I've rejected your submission. Hauck 11:15, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

I figured Silverberg was way above the threshold. Whatever. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:24, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Threshold only applies to standalone books and non-genre short fiction. Non-genre non-standalone non-fiction is excluded per the Rules of Acquisition. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:31, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
There are so many exceptions within exceptions within exceptions that it is practically impossible to keep up with everything. "Do this, except in this case, and then there's this case over here which is handled differently, unless it's like this or this." ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:33, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
True, the rules have become quite complex over the years. I remember Al and I comparing various then-current data entry rules -- including Bill Contento's and OCLC's -- some 10+ years ago. At the time we said "Nah, this is way more complex than it needs to be. Surely we can do better with simpler rules!" In retrospect, it's ironic, but every time we made the rules more complex we had a good reason to do it. Or at least that's what we thought at the time... Ahasuerus 17:46, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Maybe there ought to be a group that works up a simplified version of the rules to make them as simple as possible. I'm sure there are ways to make them easier to find and remember. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:10, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Our life here wouldn't be so fun with such a system of rules with exceptions an exceptions to exceptions and a dash of personal judgment. Just imagine the pleasure to enforce and explain all this.Hauck 08:49, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

My copy of D'Shai has 327 pages (not 326) - the last page is not numbered. If yours is the same then I'll change the record. --AndyjMo 17:59, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

I'll have to check when I get home. If the last page has content, even if it's not numbered, it's counted. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:43, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Terraforming Earth

Can you take a look at this discussion, and check your copy of Terraforming Earth? Mine probably has the original dustjacket with the BCE inside, or is yours the same? (but then, where does the price come from). Thanks for checking, --Willem 21:24, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Things from Outer Space

Hello, I've approved your update for this pub but shouldn't "George Allen England" be "George Allan England"? Hauck 07:27, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

It's "Allen" on the "Copyright of Stories" page, the table of contents, the credit at the top of the page in the story, and the beginning of the brief bio before the story. It is "Allan" in the credit directly below the story title on the first page of the story. Seems like it would be best to make it a pseudonym in this case. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 07:38, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
To the best of my remembering, the title page trumps all, so it should be "Allan" (and it'll save us another pseudonym).Hauck 07:59, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
The title page has both spellings on it. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 08:01, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Yes, but If I read you correctly "It is "Allan" in the credit directly below the story title on the first page of the story" favors "Allan". Hauck 08:16, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Windows into Hell

Ishio Yamagata

Now that Yen On is in the process of publishing "Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers" in English, we have a page for Ishio Yamagata/山形 石雄. I hope I got the basics right, but if you could take a look and see if anything needs to be fixed, I would appreciate it. Ahasuerus 16:19, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Just need to remove the space from the name (山形石雄 instead of 山形 石雄). ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:37, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Leading Edge, #69 December 2016

Hello, I've cleaned up a bit your PVed publication: linked review of This Savage Song, transformed the review of Ryria Revelations into an essay as it was impossible to link to a specific title, disambiguated the quizz. I've also tried to disentangle the mess created by the existence of two records for the same issue (this meant either deleting all titles in one issue or merging them all). Can you have a look to see if everything is correct? (note that I've used the date of your record). Hauck 11:25, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

So series can't be linked to by these reviews? Also, how do you add the ebook version of the magazine? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:35, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
For your first question, no (to the best of my knowledge), for the second (all the following is IMHO of course), either the ebook magazine is stricly similar (as per example ASF or Analog) and there's no specific series or there are differences between versions leading to two (or even three) different series like here. Hauck 15:56, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
The ebook version is exactly the same as the print version. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:57, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

A question about Japanese transliteration

I've been putting a large collection of Lois McMaster Bujold books into the database, and I'm about to start the Japanese ones. I'm not having trouble finding information about the books (though there are a few things I need to understand better), but I'm not sure how to work the transliterations. For example: ヴォル・ゲーム (The Vor Game) - I have a transliteration from google translate of "vu~oru gēmu" - should I really put a ~ in the transliteration? I'm also not sure of the long-vowel markers - would I put two transliterations, one without the marker and one with?

Thanks for any help you can give me, KarenHunt 13:52, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

It should be "Vōru Gēmu". You can see all of the macronned letters here for convenience. If you have the full list, I'll be happy to give you transliterations for all of them. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:19, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Probably simplest is if I put up all the books and you check/correct the transliterations? I think I'll be 90% right, so it won't be such a large pile to go over.
In the meantime, though, there's one other book that I think will be beyond my skills to put up. It's an anthology with a short story of Lois's in it. For reference, see http://www.tsogen.co.jp/np/isbn/9784488030575
Could you help me with this one? I can't read the site well enough to work out exactly which items are titles and authors in the contents. (I can't read more than a few characters in Japanese, though I used to speak it "natively" when I was 4 years old - I've forgotten most of what I knew, which was about what one might expect a 4-year-old to be able to manage.) KarenHunt 12:48, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
Yes, go ahead and submit them, and then I can look at them. I'll check on that anthology, too. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:33, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
I've submitted the anthology (it's actually a magazine), so just waiting for that to be approved. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:31, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
My uncertainty on that account is part of why I chickened out of putting it up myself. I've varianted the story in it to "Dreamweaver's Dilemma" under Lois's name. Thanks! KarenHunt 20:39, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
I already submitted the variation, so feel free to cancel yours. We don't want to confuse people. :) ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:13, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
I missed doing the cancelling, but it looks like it worked out just fine. I've put all the books onto the site, though right now there are a bunch of edits pending for them (variant to the original work, and adding pictures - since the varianting isn't complete, a bunch of the books are still under the Japanese version of Lois's name). KarenHunt 00:21, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
Okay, let me know once all the edits have been approved, and then post links to anything you need help with. That's a lot of work, so thanks! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 00:35, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
They're all approved. I think they're good, though I'm not sure about some of the choices of ' or - as separators. Easiest probably is to go through her page at http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?13 and hover over the Japanese titles. Still, I'll list the ones with ' and -:
KarenHunt 12:03, 15 March 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I've looked through some of them and submitted corrections. I'll go through the rest once those are approved. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:29, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Daughter of Man Serial

Regarding the Daughter of Man serialization from your verified Leading Edge magazines: Daughter of Man (Part 2 of 4) was properly entered as serial (serial was varianted to a non-serial parent record). Daughter of Man (Part 3 of 4) was also entered as a serial, but it wasn't varianted. I fixed that. Serializations should all variant to the same parent. I removed the series as serials are linked via the parent, not by a series.

Both parts are by different authors. I assume this is round-robin type continuous story? In which case, the parent would be by all authors (how I currently have it entered). If it isn't, it might be better to enter this as a series and not as a serial. Series and serials have different connotations.

Hopefully I explained that well enough. Let me know if you have questions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 15:05, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Authors with Non-Latin Family Names report

Hello,

If you have a few minutes free, can you add transliterations and Latin family names to the Japanese versions of names here: Authors with Non-Latin Family Names? Or just transliterations if you do not feel like fixing both - if I know how to read them, I can fix the family name :) I know that a few of them are not Japanese but the majority are and at least they can be cleaned out. Thanks in advance! Annie 01:06, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

I've done some of them. I'll do the rest later. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:30, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I've submitted all of them. Probably won't be approved for about 6-8 hours, though, based on when mods are active. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:12, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
I know - I can almost use some of the Mods as clocks :) Thanks a lot! Annie 23:10, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
We need to get at least one mod who is active during this time period. From about 3-4pm Mountain to about 10-11pm Mountain, they all seem to drop off the planet. Which is fine, they have lives outside ISFDB, but it makes it difficult when entering things. Having to wait for a long time to be able to finish a multi-step entry that takes submitting, waiting for approval, submitting, waiting for approval, and so on, gets frustrating. Especially when some of the submissions are complicated and one can get lost more easily if one has to come back the next day to finish up. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:31, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I know. I am in Arizona so that is usually the time when I get active as well - after work and so on. I am writing myself notes in the moderator notes field to know what I need to do once they get approved - and next day I go through my submissions to look for the notes. Plus this way I do not need to do the research twice. Annie 23:39, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

The Dream Keeper

Hello, instead of creating four NewPubs (that needed three successive couples of merges, one for the NOVEL the other for the COVERART), perhaps should it be better to wait for the approval of the 1st and then clone it. Hauck 17:49, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

You can merge all of them at the same time if you approve all of them first. That's how I tend to do it. You're welcome to just approve them and let me merge them. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:58, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
As I don't know how many there will be it may prove complicated. If my help to speed up your entering of the data annoys you, no problem, I'll left from now on your submissions alone. Hauck 18:04, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
I'm not saying to leave them alone, and I'm not annoyed. I just explained how to make it easier for you. Also, since I often submit during the dead period when it takes 6-10 hours for things to get approved (between about 2pm to 11pm Mountain), this makes it so I don't have to try to remember where I was in entering several different books. Like I said, I don't mind doing the merges myself. It's not hard to do, and generates only one merge to be approved instead of (in this case) three or four of them. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:09, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

The Dream Keeper Chronicles clones

The system is forcing me to hard-reject both of your submissions of clones of The Dream Keeper Chronicles because some title present when the clonings were submitted are now gone (probably deleted by a merge). The Oathbound Wizard

It looks as though your Verified Version of The Oathbound Wizard is a duplicate of this version. The only difference is in the page count. 瀬名秀明

Would you mind taking a look at 瀬名秀明? There is a 1963 essay for an author that was born in 1968. From what I can tell, it seems 解説 was likely published (it had to be) much later than the original translation of Asimov's book that was translated in 1963. Leading Edge Magazine

I changed two of your verified issues of Leading Edge to set the date to the cover date (March 2016 for Issue 68, for example) instead of the exact publication date that Amazon gives. That's the general rule; for whatever arcane bibliographical reason, unlike books, magazines are dated by the date given in the masthead, and if there is none (e.g. "Spring 2017") then it's just the year. Apologies if you knew that already. --Vasha 01:31, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
