The Harp of the Grey Rose

The LCCN here is for the "New York : Firebird, 2004" edition according to LOC. Is it printed in the SubPress book as well? Thanks! Annie 00:44, 6 September 2019 (EDT)

I'll check ... over the weekend -- just took allergy Rx. Susan O'Fearna 01:22, 6 September 2019 (EDT)

Legends from the End of Time

You uploaded the image for this pub back in 2012. It was verified earlier in 2007 (per-image days) and the verifier is no longer active. Based on the Fantastic Fiction website the image is for the UK paperback of 1997. Which is not on ISFDB, along with several other editions. The reason I ask is that according to a Rodney Matthews art book, a different image was used for this HC, which matches the FF listing for the 1976 UK Hardback. Long and the short - do you mind if I replace/delete the image? ../Doug H 11:01, 4 December 2019 (EST)

Knock yourself out :D -- I only had the book from the library back then Susan O'Fearna 18:30, 5 December 2019 (EST)

The Divine World

According to Smashwords this contains 80,240 words - which is twice as many as needed for it to be classified as a novel. Was that added as a chapbook by mistake or is that the wrong ISBN for the record you have (maybe an excerpt?)? Thanks! Annie 19:02, 28 December 2019 (EST)

fixed it Susan O'Fearna 08:20, 29 December 2019 (EST)
It needed some more cleanup (changing the pub type and removing the old chapbook record. Now finished. :) Annie 17:59, 29 December 2019 (EST)
Cool. It didn't "feel" like a novel, so... Susan O'Fearna 21:06, 29 December 2019 (EST)
Oh, I understand - some of those can be tricky:) Its earlier edition showed up at ~300 pages - so I went chasing afterword count :) Annie 21:45, 29 December 2019 (EST)
Thanks Susan O'Fearna 21:47, 29 December 2019 (EST)

Greek Myths: A Wonder Book

Your verified record of the 2015 Greek Myths: A Wonder Book for Girls and Boys P740130 shows 1 INTERIORART by Walter Crane that represents 32 head- and tailpieces, 18 other INTERIORART by Walter Crane, and one SHORTFICTION by Walter Crane, namely p111 "Hercules and the Nymphs". The latter must be one of the 19 plates illus. by Crane and I submit the change to INTERIORART momentarily. Pwendt|talk 19:25, 30 December 2019 (EST)

Junkyard Cats

A few changes on this one

  • Audible is recorded as "Audible Studios" as a publisher in the DB.
  • We want the regular price, not the member one :)
  • Added a story (this being a chapbook and all that/

Thanks! Annie 16:25, 21 February 2020 (EST)

The Sweeper of Dreams

Hi, Susan, could you have a look here and comment whether it makes sense to update from POEM to SHORTFICTION? Thanks! MagicUnk 12:17, 26 February 2020 (EST)

Neil Gaiman himself says this is a poem and if you listen to him read it, it's obvious that it IS a poem in the NGstyle Susan O'Fearna 13:09, 26 February 2020 (EST)
Though I just checked and he also calls it a story... so I can't decide :) Susan O'Fearna 14:21, 26 February 2020 (EST)

Junk

Where is the price coming from here? When I look into Audible, I am seeing:

  • Regular price: $9.95
  • Member price: $6.96 or 1 Credit

You have $8.71. Where did this come from? Thanks! Annie 17:08, 26 February 2020 (EST)

Same for this one - you have $5.21, I am seeing Regular price: $5.95 / Member price: $4.16 or 1 Credit in audible. Annie 17:09, 26 February 2020 (EST)
If you can get a better price for these, that'd be awesome, but my audible/amazon accounts are linked and amazon is where I'm getting the price. Susan O'Fearna 17:19, 26 February 2020 (EST)
Click on the radio button to open the menu - it will show you the list price under this price and how much you are saving (this is how much you need to pay in Amazon at this moment, we record list prices when we have it. The price for you (or me) depends on what we are subscribed to - mine is lower because it recognizes my active Audible membership so my "cash price" is my member price (so it shows $8.71 for you and $6.96 for me at the moment); the list price should remain the same: List Price: $9.95. Let me know if you are seeing something else when you click and look at the next line. Annie 17:28, 26 February 2020 (EST)
I do get that $9.95 crossed out, thanks! Susan O'Fearna 17:30, 26 February 2020 (EST)
Ah, crud, I need to go check all those "audible only" files for correct prices now ! Susan O'Fearna 17:31, 26 February 2020 (EST)
I will approve and fix the prices in those 2 so you do not need to. Annie 17:36, 26 February 2020 (EST)
Gracias Susan O'Fearna 17:37, 26 February 2020 (EST)
By the way - from the screenshot earlier - you may want to go to Audible and login there as well - even though the accounts are linked, Amazon does not seem to know that -- either it does not count you as logged in at the moment in Amazon or it does not think you are logged into Audible. Which is irrelevant for payment (if you get there, it will ask you to login anyway) but it may be hiding books from you if it thinks you are not there. Who knows. Some days Amazon can be... interesting. :) Annie 17:50, 26 February 2020 (EST)
it's funny how links they provide can lead to the lost puppy... Susan O'Fearna 17:59, 26 February 2020 (EST)

Deep Signal

Hi Susan, I recall a few months ago seeing that you were interested in adding this pub but were having problems reading the PDF edition you received. The editor (Eric) sent me a perfectly okay PDF yesterday (well, apart from the typo on the cover which he will correct before it goes up on Amazon) and I've just completed adding it to the db. I will get hold of the print edition in a few weeks, but I'd appreciate it if you were to cast your eye over the PDF record as you have much greater experience than I in adding heavily illustrated publications, and please feel free to make any amendments you feel are necessary. Thanks. PeteYoung 01:50, 28 February 2020 (EST)

I've been waiting for my physical copy since the kickstarter -- I can't read the pdf, vision issues Susan O'Fearna 13:24, 28 February 2020 (EST)
Is that the one you sent me earlier this week? If so, it was on my list for the weekend so I can play the second set of eyes. Annie 13:27, 28 February 2020 (EST)
it is - I have issues with seeing layers on a computer (or tablet) screen Susan O'Fearna 13:34, 28 February 2020 (EST)
Not fun :( I will see what I can do this weekend then. Annie 13:37, 28 February 2020 (EST)

Variants

Hi, By entering variants like you did for The Stand you create maintenance reports. Moderators that are not aware of the situation can delete any title without pubs. You'd best enter the other two pubs as soon as possible and, in the future, enter a variant publication completely before varianting it to the canonical, as is the standard procedure.--Dirk P Broer 08:05, 10 March 2020 (EDT)

I'm adding the pubs now Susan O'Fearna 12:18, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
What Dirk is saying is to do it the other way around - first add the pubs, then make the variants. Otherwise, the titles can be deleted overnight as "titles without pubs" (these would have been if I was around late last night). Then you need to do it all over again. :) Annie 12:57, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
I did it the way I was told when I added the audio books to Nightmares & Dreamscapes -- oops! Susan O'Fearna 13:51, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
Technically both ways work. :) But pub-less title has a better than average chance to be deleted overnight - so it makes it safer to go the other way around. Annie 14:19, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
Annie, did you hear the SQUEEEE yesterday about 2 - 2:30 down the valley? My book(s) arrived and they're so PRETTY! Susan O'Fearna 14:21, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
:) Mine are still en route so I had not seen them yet (unless they are in that box I picked up yesterday - maybe I should open my mail...). But PS Publishing had been doing their usual wonderful work with those editions (if anything, some of these are better than their usual and that is not that easy to achieve) so I believe you. :) Annie 14:33, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
The box was 15"15"15 - HUGE for the books and so well packed. Now... if CD will hurry up with Night Shift... Susan O'Fearna 14:34, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
PS tend to over-pack (if you got it from England directly - I know that some US publishers had some copies through them as well) -- and I had never had a damaged book from them :) The CD book look gorgeous as well... Annie 15:02, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
CD can be annoying - I 'pre-ordered" Night Shift 08/08/2017 and Strange Weather 09/25/2017 -- and no idea when they'll be released Susan O'Fearna 21:01, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
That's partially why I gave up on them awhile ago. They make great books now and then but you never know when you may be getting it (delays are fine... delays in years with no updates piss me off). I preorder from Sub Press all the time - even if some of theirs slip, they do not slip that badly. Oh well... hopefully they WILL publish them soon-ish. :) Annie 22:00, 10 March 2020 (EDT)
yeah, I order from SubPress, too and Dark Regions and ONE from Suntup that was AWESEOME ... !!! Susan O'Fearna 23:16, 10 March 2020 (EDT)

We Are All Completely Fine ebook publication date question

Hello Susan, quick question: any particular reason why you didn't update the publication date for your cloned ebook submission here to the Amazon-listed publication date (should be 21 July 2014 iso the one for the tp edition)? Thanks! MagicUnk 15:37, 14 April 2020 (EDT)
Same question for this one; 6 oct 2015 iso the one for the tp edition. MagicUnk 15:50, 14 April 2020 (EDT)

I wasn't using amazon, but Tachyon's website (I got this book as part of a humblebundle) and there it says August 2014 Susan O'Fearna 16:53, 14 April 2020 (EDT)
Thanks Susan. I approved, and added date source to the notes. MagicUnk 17:07, 14 April 2020 (EDT)

Ancient Rockets

Regarding your edits to add Kathleen Bartholomew as an author of Ancient Rockets. From the cover and Amazon Look Inside, this is credited as by Kage Baker and edited by Kathleen Bartholomew. From the ISFDB perspective, this would mean that Baker alone would go on the author line and Bartholomew would be referenced in the notes. Maybe someday we will get an actual editor field, but until then we use the notes. Where you basing the change on anything else then the "Edited by Kathleen Bartholomew" line on the cover and title page? -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:57, 14 April 2020 (EDT)

by the time this came out, Kage was dead a year... and it’s actually a collection an article/essays about classic SF movies & nonSF, some nongenre? Susan O'Fearna 02:08, 15 April 2020 (EDT)
For crediting purposes, a nonfiction collection is treated the same as a fiction collection. Only the actual author's name should be on the title and publication. Whether the author is deceased or not doesn't matter (even for living authors, it is not uncommon for the author to have little to do with the actual creation of the collection). Someday we will get an editors field for these cases, but until then, it goes in the notes. I accepted the clone, but changed the pub type from tp to ebook. As the ISBN matches the ISBN the publisher lists for ebook and you provided the price and ASIN matching the ebook, this seemed like it was probably just missed in the submission. I have also added the contents (based on Amazon Look Inside) to the original collection and imported into the ebook. If you have the publication, please adjust if any of the title pages differ from the ToC. I will be adding links to the essay title records back to the tor.com originals. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:12, 15 April 2020 (EDT)
Cool, thanks Susan O'Fearna 20:13, 15 April 2020 (EDT)

The Age of Unreason

Hello,

I just added the contents in your verified Annie 19:12, 8 May 2020 (EDT)

cool, I have a few to add contents to... Susan O'Fearna 23:19, 8 May 2020 (EDT)

Unknowable Consequences

Hello,

Can you check the spelling of the author of this one in your verified - Elizabeth A. Vaughn or Elizabeth A. Vaughan ("a" before the final "n")? Thanks! Annie 00:14, 10 May 2020 (EDT)

You're right, Vaughan! Susan O'Fearna 02:06, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Not me - another editor caught it and I came asking before approval:) Thanks for the confirmation! Annie 02:20, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
thanks... btw, got new COMICS!!! Susan O'Fearna 02:21, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Floppies? They are back to shipping? Or Graphic novels? Something interesting? They may not be eligible for inclusion here but I still love my comics... Annie 02:24, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
I got a TPB from Amazon (Fables TPB #13), a TPB and a Comic from Tom at BDI (Critter TPB3 and Princesses versus Zombies #0) and 2 from Kickstarter (Penny for Your Soul vol 4 #7 and Shahrazad new issue) Susan O'Fearna 02:57, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Ah, I see. Have fun with them. Fables is so much fun! :) Annie 03:04, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
I just HAD to follow Bill from Comico (Elementals) to Vertigo! Susan O'Fearna 03:08, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Fables was one of the first comics I tried after I decided that the whole "comics are for kids" is idiotic - I was still back in Bulgaria and getting access to things was not that easy. Never regretted that decision :) Annie 03:19, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
I started with ElfQuest and now have several thousand of them! Susan O'Fearna 03:22, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Looks at her shelves and the boxes in the closet. Hm... I mean... :) When I finish cataloging the bleep things, I will share a list :) By the way - if you like Fables's story, you may want to check "The Unwritten" as well (if you had not yet) - by one of my other favorite creators (Mike Carey_. Annie 03:23, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
I have that one ☺ -- since you liked Fables did you get to read the Elementals?
https://cloud.collectorz.com/ofearna/comics Susan O'Fearna 03:25, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
No - it is on my list of things to read (together with a few hundred other things). How do you like collectorz? I had been looking at where I can catalog comics (especially the floppies) - LibraryThing is great for my books (which I also need to finish cataloging but I digress) but floppies are problematic there (and comics in general because of the lack of ability to connect sometimes). Annie 03:30, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
When Chris announced he was going to close comicbookdb I had to find an app that would WORK and I've been quite liking CLZ for books, movies and comics -- enter the first 100 issues, then wait for a holiday weekend and get it cheap! :) Susan O'Fearna 03:35, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
http://comics.ofearna.us/elementals.html Susan O'Fearna 03:41, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
I am happy with LT for books - it may not be perfect but it works for what I need. And yeah comicbookdb closing was not fun - I was just about ready to start using it. Although if I decide to host instead of going online, it may make sense to have all in one DB... :) Annie 03:45, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Whoop, dryer says I can finish changing the sheets on my bed and terrorize the dog by vacuuming behind/under bed :-) Susan O'Fearna 03:46, 10 May 2020 (EDT)
Poor dog :) Turned out I have a CLZ account from way back when (the free option) - apparently from when I was deciding what to do. Time to get serious about that I guess... Annie 04:13, 10 May 2020 (EDT)

Wolf's Search

Hello Susan. I approved your submission of Wolf's Search, but could you add the source you got the data from in the Notes field, please? Thank you! MagicUnk 13:20, 17 May 2020 (EDT)
