Pellucidar by Burroughs
I rejected your submission to add a publication of this title, because it appears to already be in the database. Check out this pub and see if it is similar to yours. The only difference I could see was the price you gave of $19.95. Was this price actually printed in your book, or did it come from a secondary source? Maybe your copy is a second printing? If so, please state that in the notes of a new submission. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I've placed a watch on this page, so you can respond below and I'll get back with you. Thanks, and welcome to the ISFDB. MHHutchins 21:19, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Updating prices
I'm rejecting those submissions which change the prices of several publications. It's possible that the prices have gone up. Even quite likely. But the prices listed in the current record may have been the price at the time of the original publication. If you have the books in hand and the prices printed in the book are different, create new records instead of updating the old ones. Are your copies new printings? Is there a printing history published on the copyright page indicating a new printing? If your source for the price is Amazon, keep in mind that this may be the same printing but the publisher's list price may have changed over the 5-6 year period since the book was originally published. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask here on your talk page. It is on my watch list, so I'll know if you make any changes. Thanks. MHHutchins 21:21, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Linking to images on Amazon
I've accepted some of your submissions but have had to correct the links which you provide to images on Amazon. For the most part, you're providing the URL that goes to the "Look Inside" option. Here's how to get the URL of the image itself:
- Right click on the image and choose the copy image LOCATION option from the menu (not the image link).
- Paste the URL in the Image URL field of the ISFDB record you're creating or updating.
- If there's more than one dot (period) in the URL remove every letter, number, symbol, figure between the first one and the extension (usually jpg or gif). You must keep that one dot (period).
Thanks. MHHutchins 21:30, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Another thing: if the image has a link to a larger image click on it before the first step above. MHHutchins 21:33, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Crediting the editor, introducer, etc.
Sometimes Amazon will credit the editor of a book in it's author fields. We don't do that on the ISFDB. In this book, Amazon credits David Ketterer in the author field, and you did so when you submitted this for the database. I've removed Ketterer's name from the author field, and placed a note in the title record that he was the editor. Thanks. MHHutchins 21:36, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
